INDIA’s Computing Capacity is Set To Increase Nearly 20-fold by Year-End: Jensen Huang

Nvidia is expanding its commitment to artificial intelligence in India through strategic partnerships aimed at transforming the nation’s digital landscape. At the Nvidia AI Summit in Mumbai, CEO Jensen Huang highlighted India’s rapid digital advancements, announcing that the country’s computing capacity is set to increase nearly 20-fold by year-end. In a landmark partnership with Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, Nvidia aims to leverage AI to impact sectors from telecommunications to healthcare.

During the event, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, lauded Nvidia’s infrastructure as crucial to India’s tech future, likening its potential impact to Jio’s disruptive entry into the telecom sector. This collaboration will harness Nvidia’s AI supercomputers and cutting-edge Grace Hopper Superchip to develop AI applications tailored for Reliance’s 450 million Jio users. The initiative, which will empower sectors like climate research and healthcare, reflects Reliance’s vision of AI-driven solutions tailored to India’s unique challenges.

Huang emphasized that Nvidia’s partnership with India aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitions to make India a global AI leader. Huang stated, “India will soon not only develop world-class CEOs but also export AI services globally.”

This collaboration will deploy Nvidia’s Grace Hopper Superchip, a high-performance computing solution designed to expedite AI deployments across various industries. The cutting-edge supercomputing infrastructure will enable faster, more scalable AI solutions in sectors that are crucial to India’s economy and global standing, such as healthcare, environmental research, and finance. As a part of Nvidia’s overarching strategy, the company is also in talks with other Indian IT firms, underscoring the depth of its commitment to the Indian market.

In a joint statement, both Nvidia and Reliance stressed the importance of AI readiness to propel India toward a technology-driven future. Ambani highlighted the importance of “cutting-edge, scalable AI solutions” and Nvidia’s infrastructure in realizing this vision, marking a step forward in India’s AI ecosystem.

Nvidia’s expansion in India comes at a time when the country is doubling down on tech initiatives, with the government investing in AI as part of its ‘Digital India’ push.
